SUBJECT: SUNROOF WILL NOT CLOSE
INVOLVED VEHICLES: 2005 (WK) Grand Cherokee
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine (sales code EZB) built prior to December 11, 2004.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A small number of vehicles may have release clips that have not been removed from one or both hose clamps used to secure the low pressure power steering return hose. The suspect hose clamps are used to connect the low pressure power steering return hose to the power steering reservoir and pump.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. With the ignition in the OFF position (engine not running), locate and inspect the low
pressure power steering return hose used to connect the power steering reservoir to the
power steering pump. See figures below.
2. Verify if the power steering return hose and the two (2) attaching clamps are installed
correctly and that the yellow release clip has been removed.
3. If the power steering return hose and both clamps are correctly installed, and no
clamp release clip is present, then no further action is required.
4. If the hose clamps on the power steering return hose have not had the yellow
release clip removed from one or both clamps then proceed to the next step.
5. Remove the intake manifold air box plenum (resonator) from the vehicle to gain
access to both power steering return hose clamps.
6. Prior to removing a release clip, verify that power steering return hose and both
clamps are correctly installed to the reservoir and pump.
7. Remove the yellow release clip present on one or both return hose clamps.
8. Install the intake manifold air box plenum (resonator). Tighten the plenum hose
clamps to 30 in. lbs. (3.4 Nm). Tighten plenum attaching bolts to 40 in. lbs. (4.5 Nm).
9. Verify correct power steering fluid level.
